Hi everyone!
It’s that time of year again—we’re packing our bags and heading to Brussels, Belgium for a double dose of open source goodness! We’ll be attending both CHAOSScon Europe and FOSDEM, and look forward to catching up with the community and learning together.
CHAOSScon Europe 2025
First up, we’re excited to be part of CHAOSScon on January 30th. This is the place to be if you’re interested in learning about how to measure and improve the health of open source projects.
Here’s what we’ll be up to:
- Daniel Izquierdo is giving the opening keynote: What is CHAOSS and an Overview of GrimoireLab 2.0.
- In it, he’ll celebrate 15 years of GrimoireLab and its community, and discuss the challenges they are overcoming to help usher in the future of project health analytics.
- Georg Link will be sharing his talk: Analyzing Risk from an OSS Project Health Perspective: Tools, Traces, and Threats.
- He’ll explore how GrimoireLab helps companies assess and mitigate the risks associated with the health of the open source projects they depend on.
- We’ll also be co-hosting the software breakout room—come join us for some hands-on demos and user discussions around GrimoireLab!
If you’re already going to FOSDEM, meet us first at CHAOSScon! But if you can’t attend, all talks will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@CHAOSStube.
FOSDEM 2025
Next, we’re off to FOSDEM, the massive free and open source software developers’ gathering.
Look out for these talks:
- What do maintainers need from funders and others? We asked maintainers to find out, co-presented by Georg Link and Kevin Lumbard.
- Attendees will get tools and perspectives on sustainability to help them express project needs and inform decision and policy makers on why and how their investments are needed.
- Connecting SBOMs with OSS project health to better understand dependencies, also presented by Georg Link.
- Join him to discuss the importance of OSS project health in SBOMS, and to learn strategies to better understand your dependencies, manage them with data, and reduce the risk in your open source projects.
You can find these and many other talks live-streamed on their website.
As always, we’ll be hanging out in the cafeteria at FOSDEM, so come say hi!
